How often should I visit the dentist?
On average, a person should receive a checkup and cleaning at least twice a year, even if they aren’t experiencing any dental issues. Many common problems like cavities and gum disease don’t have noticeable symptoms at first, but regular exams enable our team to be proactive and treat someone before they develop pain or damage. Cleanings can even stop cavities before they start!
Is it normal for my gums to bleed every time I brush & floss?
While this is fairly common, it shouldn’t be happening. It may indicate that you are cleaning your teeth with too much pressure, or you might have a minor infection. Brush and floss with a lighter touch for a few days, and switch to using a soft-bristled brush if you aren’t already. Still seeing bleeding? Then you likely have early-stage gum disease, which can only be taken care of professionally. Thankfully, treatment at this stage is fairly simple, so be sure to come see us soon.
One of my teeth really hurts. What should I do?
Do you have some food stuck between your teeth? Try rinsing and flossing around the hurting tooth, and if the pain continues, go ahead and give us a call. Even a minor toothache could be a sign of a serious infection or damage. Before you can make it to our dental office, you can take an over-the-counter medication for some temporary relief.
Are dental X-rays safe?
At Lacquaniti Dental, we use all-digital X-rays that emit 90% LESS radiation compared to traditional film, so they are very safe. In fact, a person is exposed to more radiation over the course of a two-hour flight compared to these X-rays. We’re around them all day, and you can trust that we wouldn’t use them if they presented any kind of health risk.
How long will my crown/filling last?
With proper care, a dental restoration can easily last for multiple decades before needing to be updated. In general, however, most fillings or crowns require some type of maintenance around the 10-15 year mark. At your regular checkups, we’ll keep a close eye on any dental work you might have so we can address minor issues as early as possible.
Will you take my dental insurance?
Yes! Lacquaniti Dental is happy to file claims for any dental insurance plan regardless of someone’s provider. Our team will know how to help you get the most out of your coverage and ensure you’re reimbursed as quickly as possible. Give us a call today to learn how much you can save using your plan with us.
